15 things to do in Prague

15 things to do in Prague on a weekend trip

Welcome to my personal top 15 list of things to do on a weekend trip to Prague. We did all these things (and a couple of more) while staying in Prague on a weekend in May 2017 from Friday to Sunday. And we had a WONDERFUL time. Therefore, I would like to share some of the things we did in Prague as weekend tourists. However, not in chronological order, travel-friendly shoes being required and looooots of photos (I APOLOGIZE for the photo overload - be kind with me, I'm in LOVE with Prague). Let's go. Enjoy the ride. At the end of this post you will find a personal travel guide, where I list many of the things we did during our weekend in Prague.

  1. Visiting Charles Bridge early in the morning (around 8 a.m.) to find this view with wedding shootings going on and cleaning staff making their way over the bridge ...

  2. ... compared to this view during rush hour with the crowds.

  3. Riding on tram no. 22 to see the main sights of Prague, watch out for ticket machines and have some coins at hand, the machines don't accept bank notes

  4. Eating a Trdelník (rolled dough wrapped around a stick, grilled and topped with sugar and walnut mix) and/or having some fresh juice

  5. Enjoying the wonderful pub atmosphere in Prague at Pivovar a restaurace U Valšů, Betlémská 5, Praha 1 - Staré město. We witnessed a bachelor party here with the bridegroom-to-be wearing a supergirl costume (had to edit the photo because there was something kinky hanging from underneath the costume).

  6. Strolling around the large and beautiful Letná Park with Prague Metronome, a beautiful view of Prague and lots of green and the 'potential for personal recreation and outdoor enjoyment'

  7. Riding up Petřín hill by railway (or climbing 299 steep steps to reach the hill) to see the Petrin Observation Tower (a mini version of Paris's Eiffel Tower), to have fun in the Mirror Cabinet and to walk down back to enjoy the breathtaking atmosphere of this huge, green oasis with beautiful flowers and benches to sit down and relax

  8. Visiting the scenic area of historic fort Vyšehrad with Vyšehrad cemetry (many famous people are buried here among them famous Czech composers Antonín Dvořák and Bedřich Smetana), flea market on the weekend, beautiful views of Prague and lots of green space, meadows and benches to sit down and relax

  9. Discovering Vrtbovská zahrada (Vrtba Palace Garden), a Baroque garden at Karmelitská 373/25, Praha 1 - Malá Strana, with entrance fee

  10. Enjoying a traditional Czech meal and wine and Pilsner Urquell (fresh draft beer) at the oldest Pilsner Urquell Restaurant U Pinkasu at Jungmannovo náměstí 15/16, 110 00, Praha 1

  11. Visiting Františkánská zahrada (Franciscan Garden), a green oasis in the city center to sit down and relax, near U Pinkasu restaurant (9.) at Jungmannovo náměstí, 110 00 Praha 1 - Nové Město

  12. Walking in the streets of Žižkov and Vinohrady

  13. Taking the scenic path through St. Wenceslas’ Vineyard when going back down from Prague Castle and enjoying some wine at Villa Richter

  14. Having a great time at Kampa Island Park (Na Kampe), with a musical festival, coffee and a nice dinner at Restaurant Sovovy Mlýny with a beautiful view of the river Vltava and Charles Bridge

  15. Taking photos of different Metro stations

  16. Taking home some crisp Oblaten wafers as a souvenir

  17. Enjoy your trip to Prague and have a wonderful time discovering this amazing city.
